The First SDGs Technical Committee Meeting
MINISTRY OF ECONOMY – The first SDGs National Technical Committee meeting was held on Saturday in the Ministry of Economy’s conference hall. The objective of the meeting was to introduce the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the Budgetary Units and officially start the contextualization process of the SDGs in Afghanistan. The SDGs focal points from 19 Budgetary Units of Afghanistan participated in the meeting.
The meeting was commenced by the opening speech of H.E Minister of Economy after the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. H.E thanked and welcomed the participants and mentioned about importance of the SDGs in socio-economic development of Afghanistan. The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as a member of the United Nations is committed to implement and achieve the SDGs within the 15-years of time frame (2015-2030). The implementation of the SDGs will be started after the contextualizing and reflection to the National Development Policies, Strategies and Plans.
After the opening speech, the informative presentation on the SDGs and SDGs Afghaization process was presented by the MoEc technical team. As the last agenda of the meeting, the floor was opened for discussions and the participants shared their comments and thoughts on the contextualization process of SDG in Afghanistan
